Celebrating Our Differences

"Youniquely Created: Women Under Construction"...that was the title of the women's retreat that I went to this past weekend and also a very true statement!! It was put on by First Baptist of Lavonia and my friend Connie invited our bible study group to go. It ended up being Connie, Missey and I and so we were roommates for the night. We had a great time getting to know one another better and laughing nonstop!!

Connie was very entertaining...(loved her hat!)

We had the privilege of hearing a group called Beloved sing and speak, and they were wonderful! We laughed till our stomachs hurt and even shed a few tears.

During the retreat, we learned about the four different temperaments that were created by Hippocrates. Many people have studied these temperaments to identify why we behave a certain way. It was so neat to learn which one you were and the characteristics that described you. We enjoyed hearing our strengths and cringed while listening to our weaknesses (they called them challenges)! It was so comforting to meet other women who were the same as you and had the same struggles. It was also comforting to know that God created each one of us in His image and He didn't want anyone to be exactly the same!

A couple verses that they highlighted were: Psalm 139:14-16, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made...All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." and Ephesians 2:10, "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

We were ALL uniquely designed with specific temperaments and abilities for a specific purpose and with His desire for a positive outcome!! What's our purpose? I think one of Beloved's songs sums it up - Love God, Serve Others and Share Your Story...
