Yesterday Jason and I celebrated 9 years of being married. 9 wonderful years - ups and downs, of course - with the man I love more than anyone in the world! I feel very blessed to be married to him. :)
We spent the weekend in Nashville exploring the city, relaxing and enjoying our time alone together. We were grateful that Memommy and Pop were able to watch the kids while we were gone, and they had a great time!
Our first night there we went to a place called The Listening Room. Most every night they have singers/songwriters come and play there, and people can eat dinner while they listen to them perform. All the singers were amazing and most were selling their CDs there. The food was awesome too!
This is a picture of downtown on the busiest street there - Broadway. Lots of restaurants, bars and stores! It was a great place to people watch - believe me.
Our hotel, which was right next to Vanderbilt University. We loved the shuttle service that would take us downtown each day!
We also walked over this bridge a couple times - called the Shelby Street Bridge. It was beautiful and had great views of the city!!
On Saturday we did a lot of walking around, sightseeing, shopping and eating. Ha! We saw this adorable sign at the Country Music Hall of Fame gift shop.
But we decided to buy some cowboy boots instead! Now I feel like a real cowgirl, ha. :)
We saw a lot of these - "party bikes" - while touring the city. Groups of women (sometimes some men!) sit and pedal while they listen to music and drink. They were all very loud and probably drunk. Oh my!
We visited this place called Acme Feed and Seed which was built in 1890. It used to be many different things over the years, including grocery stores and flour and baking powder companies. Then it became a feed store called Acme Farm Supply and was open for 56 years there. Pretty cool place!
That night we ate dinner at a yummy taco place and explored the city some more. So pretty!
On Sunday morning we decided to tour the Ryman Auditorium, which was the original building for the Grand Ole Opry. There was SO much history in that building and we really enjoyed the tour. Such a beautiful building, inside and out. The neat thing was that it started out as a church built by a man named Thomas Ryman. He heard about a preacher who was holding tent revivals and he wanted to go stir up a ruckus one night. After hearing him preach, he converted that night and decided to build him his own church. After that it became a place for many different people and groups to come and speak, sing, play music, etc. A very diverse group of people over the years have been there! People still perform there and they give tours as well!
The outside
See lots of people you know, Memommy, Pop, Mom and Dad? :)
Thankful for an amazing weekend away!!!
Love,
