A New Year Has Begun

2011 is upon us...can you believe it? I sure can't! I don't know if any of you make New Year's Resolutions but I usually don't. I did decide to think about the year ahead and all the events coming up! I came across some scripture that a friend of mine posted on her Facebook status and thought it was perfect for this new year. I hope she doesn't mind me borrowing it! :>)

It is from Colossians 3: 12-17 and it says the following in my Life Application Bible about those verses...

"Paul offers a strategy to help us live for God day by day:
1) Imitate Christ's compassionate, forgiving attitude
2) Let love guide your life
3) Let the peace of Christ rule in your heart
4) Always be thankful
5) Keep God's Word in you at all times
6) Live as Jesus Christ's representative"

It's a pretty simple list of 6 things...easy for me to write in a blog post but PRETTY HARD to practice out each and every day! All I can do is try...I'll never be perfect. :>) At least I have some verses to focus on now and strive toward. Maybe they will speak to some of you, too...

Here are the actual verses:
¹² Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. ¹³ Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. ¹⁴ And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

¹⁵ Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. ¹⁶ Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. ¹⁷ And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

I pray that each one of you experiences the unconditional, flawless, and amazing love that comes from Jesus Christ this new year and that you share it with others as much as you can. Happy New Year to all of you!
